Foodies will love the wide array of culinary offerings on display and the scrumptious menus cater for every pallette.
If it’s dining at the 5 Star Chewton Glen Hotel, a table at the Montagu Arms for a Michelin-starred meal , or garden-to-plate seasonal dishes influenced by the forest and coast at The Pig, each of the fabulous restaurants in the New Forest will provide an eating experience that`s hard to match.
Something For All Tastes
Mediterranean style food can be cooked and sampled in the stone-bake, wood-fired oven at Burley Manor or try the nutrient-rich ‘Raw and Cured’ dishes at Lime Wood Hotel in Lyndhurst. There is a restaurant or eatery located in the New Forest to suit everyone who dines there and if a plate of good old fish and chips takes your fancy or perhaps an artisan dish you thought were only available in London, why not drop in and enjoy what they have to offer.
Many of the eating places are proud to display the New Forest Marque, this indicates that the produce they use has been sourced locally and sustainably. You can see this symbol at the restaurants entrance.
Local Produce
Many of the restaurants and eating places in the area make full use of the natural larder the forest can provide. This includes fish, meat and game from within the borders of the New Forest, in addition to the abundance of locally-grown and seasonal vegetables.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the local specialities, such as the delicious pork sourced from the unique, roaming pigs. The pigs are let out into the Forest during autumn (called Pannage) to eat acorns and nuts that are poisonous to the New Forest ponies and cattle.
